Learn about your destination.
Do you think you are ready for that trip of a lifetime?
Are you planning to go on your well-deserved short or long vacation?
Before you start packing your bags, you should do this very important thing first. Make a thorough research about your planned destination. By doing so, it will make a lot more difference in your trip. Well, you don’t want to spoil your vacation just because of ‘No Camera Policy’, right? If you are planning to visit museums, historical or religious places, you should consider learning some do’s and don’ts before you go. Sometimes, places like that require visitors or tourists to dress up according to their rules or tradition. So it is a must to be well-prepared.
Learn about the weather condition of your place of destination. Wandering around the streets in the winter season sounds exciting, but how could you experience that if you don’t have a thick coat and scarf when the temperature drops lower than you anticipated? You would feel disappointed if you can’t continue strolling in the streets longer because you are not prepared for a sudden change of temperature. You would end up going back to your hotel and spend the rest of your day looking at the window wishing the weather to cooperate with you. Such a terrible unwanted scenario for every traveler.
Another reason why you should learn your destination beforehand is to avoid experiencing ‘culture shock’. To be honest, there is no way for any tourist or travelers to avoid certain culture shock. There will be times that they will encounter it sooner or later. So, I think it’s best to say to at least minimize the chance of experiencing it. When you’re about to visit a country that has a different culture or religion from your own country, it is a top to-do list to make some research before heading to the airport. It would be awkward if you’re not sure what to do on how to greet the people properly. It is important to know the proper way of greeting to avoid making mistakes and worst, to avoid being disrespectful based on their culture. You don’t want that to happen, right?
Another example, if you’re about to visit a sacred mountain, you should consider what to bring in order to follow their tradition. You cannot just climb up to the mountain empty handed. Maybe you have to bring some offerings. Maybe they have certain rules before they let you wander around their place. You should always pay attention to avoid making anything that goes against their tradition. Be obedient to their rules so you could enjoy and have a wonderful experience.
So, as you can see, it is our responsibility to be prepared, not just by preparing our backpacks and luggage’s but we must prepare ourselves to be respectful and responsible travelers. We could do it by simply learning about our dream destination. If you do that, you will absolutely enjoy your trip.
