A Drop of Kindness

SAPPHIRECover Stories1 month ago357 Views

Kindness does not crash like thunder,
It does not knock with heavy hands.
It slips in quiet — a single drop —
Onto the surface of a stranger’s day.

One drop.
A held door, a whispered “I see you,”
An umbrella tilted your way in the rain.
No headlines follow it.
No statues are built.
Yet the ripples travel farther than we ever will.

The world shouts for floods, for grand and shining things —
Donations, rescues, light that blinds.
But oceans are patient.
Oceans are made of this:
Drop, then drop, then drop again,
Until even the driest heart remembers how to float.

We think our drop is too small.
That it will vanish before it lands.
But tell me — what is the sea,
If not a billion quiet refusals to be nothing?

So be the drop today.
Let your patience be water.
Let your listening be rain.
You may never see where the ripples go,
But someone, somewhere, will stop drowning
Because you chose to fall gently.

A drop won’t end the storm.
But it can teach a soul how to swim.
