Change is constant

Nothing stays the same. Not the weather, not our faces in the mirror, not even the person we were yesterday. Change is the one rule that never gets broken.

We fight it, of course. We build routines, take photos, and say “I wish this moment could last forever.” But life keeps moving anyway. Seasons turn without asking. Friends drift to new cities. Phones update. We grow out of old dreams and into new ones we never saw coming.

Change feels uncomfortable because it asks us to let go. Let go of what’s familiar. Let go of plans that no longer fit. It’s like outgrowing shoes — painful at first, but you can’t run far if your feet are cramped. The discomfort means you’re stretching into something bigger.

But change is not only loss. It’s also arrival. A door closes, another opens. The job you lost makes space for work that fits you better. The friendship that ended teaches you how to love with clearer eyes. Even pain changes — it softens, it teaches, it becomes part of your story instead of your whole story.

The river doesn’t ask the stone if it wants to be smoothed. It just keeps flowing. And the stone becomes something new: rounder, lighter, able to skip farther. That’s us too. Constant change is polishing us, even when we don’t notice.

So maybe the goal isn’t to stop change. Maybe it’s to learn how to move with it. To bend instead of break. To trust that after winter, green comes back. To believe that we can be new versions of ourselves and still be ourselves.

Change is constant. But so is our ability to adapt. And that’s what makes us human.

God calls us to change too, but on purpose. Not just reacting to life.
